Took in a Chris Trapper show at Schubas with my friend Robin.  We thought it would be a little swing back to the old days, but ... not so much.  Chris was fabulous!  I LOVE his voice and he's got funny stories between songs.  But, the funny thing about the show - there were seats!  Robin and I were like .. um, interesting.  A few years back, the room would be standing room only and you'd have to get there early to get up close.  Even Chris was talking about how respectful of a crowd we were - kind of like playing in church.  We sat quietly while he sang and then clapped when it was over.  Such an odd experience.  But I still loved it, just because I love his music that much!

40 giving thanks

Happy Thanksgiving - a little late.  :)  I hope you had a beautiful holiday filled with food, friends and family! I spent the holiday with my friend Amanda's family in Naperville.  We did a little departure of the traditional meal with cornish game hens.  They were delicious!

I did try my hand, once again, at making my grandma's parker house rolls.  Oh me and yeast breads just struggle so...   I read somewhere that dough rises best in 80-85 degree temps.  Well who has a kitchen that warm?  Seriously? So at the advice of my mother, I used a heating pad under the bowl and pans to help keep the warmth and it worked beautifully!  I might be on to something here!

Hit the chocolate bar at the Pen again with some girlfriends.  Love, love, love it!  Was sad that they did not have the crepe station this time, but what we did have was lovely.  My friend spotted a bottle of Creme Yvette at the bar and asked if I'd ever had it.  I had not so gave it a try.  The bartender said it is mostly a mixer - very fragrant - but I would totally sip it by itself.  Mmmm.  And then we talked the sommelier into giving us a flight of port and tawny - delightful!

Had my first piece of pumpkin pie for the season and our first snow!  It didn't stick since it had been 70 the day before, but it still counts as the first!

Worked from home today since the painters were in the house.  I sat on my bed in the middle of the bedroom with all the other furniture pushed up against it like a fort the whole day - working on my laptop.  Phoebe was so cute and would not leave my side the whole time.  Awww.

Life is just crazy busy these days and my blogging is in a pitiful state.  I think it's party because my Posterous platform (that I loved) has lost it's developers and support and the bugs that have developed (mostly huge delays in posting via email) will never be fixed.  It was so easy to just whip up an email - both on the computer and phone.  It was easy to tag and did not require me to log into a blog portal to properly post.  And I could update all social places at once - without even thinking about it.  I don't like Blogger.  I think it's clunky.  I can't imagine that it hasn't come farther in the years it's been around.

So... off my soapbox and onto 365 photos!
