today

Today I popped back on my website for something and realized I hadn’t blogged for months! I have gotten away from blogging because, well lets face it, no one reads blogs anymore. I have always blogged for me, but it was so much fun to read other blogs and to have someone read yours and comment. I grew to ‘know’ many people through blogging over the years and think it’s a great platform to create connections. I admit I have gotten lost in the instagram world … time to spend some screen time elsewhere me thinks!

This past weekend was St. Patty’s Day mayhem - throngs of people on every city street and one very green river. I haven’t been down to see it in years so having to run down for a client I thought well let’s go take a peek. It is pretty cool especially when the weather cooperates!

the year age got me

This is the year age caught up with me. I have, for the most part, been pretty healthy and able to do most anything I wanted until this past year. Achy back, essential tremor and two bouts with plantar fasciitis just threw everything off balance - literally. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still up an at’em but finding that I need to refocus on the physical me so I’m not immobile as an old lady. I still want to be traveling and on the run well into my later years. I’ve taken up pilates, yoga and meditation (which I still struggle with) to end the year and plan to keep it going! Here’s to a great 2019!

punta cana

To celebrate my friend Amanda's 40th birthday a few of her closest friends few to the Dominican for some fun, sun and relaxation. This was my first experience at an all inclusive resort and while I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either.  I would do it again - it is nice to just have everything you need all in one place, but I don't think this will replace my other travels.

We arrived to rain - then the sun came out - then it rained again -then we ate - then the sun came out - then we saw a monkey - drank piña coladas -  coco locos - floated in the pool - at again - had spa treatments - rented a cabana for the day - ate more - then it rained again. Despite the rain it was beautiful! The Dominicans are happy hospitible people!

Mac Gyver

In a moment of crazy I ordered a Nikon D750 thinking that I would jump ship from Canon.  Yes, I lost my mind just a little bit.  I was so unhappy with the copy of my 5D MKiii that I just thought I'll sell it all and switch systems. Thankfully I have this adorable baby to test out the new equipment. I mean come on ... those baby blues! Perfect little round cheeks?!

Well, after shooting for 30 minutes I decided the learning curve of the user interface would just frustrate me so I sent it back.  I was happy with the quality of images I got - no question it's a great camera, but it seemed (coming from Canon) that I had to do two to three things to get into menus I needed and could never figure out how to change AI focus when in the field with it. Canon 5D MK IV here I come.

La Jolla

San Diego has become a bit of a second home for me in the last few years.  With friends that live there and a lot of work that has taken me to the west coast my love of this city has really grown. This last trip I was in La Jolla and really loved this area.  The beach really is becoming my photo muse. [ Leica DLux 109 SOOC ]
