I love flying at sunset - the view is amazing with all that warm light.  I rarely sit in a window seat, but have been on a lot of small regional jets lately and they have been kind of empty.  When I get a row to myself I always scoot over to take in the view.  Still kind of amazes me that we can actually fly...

I shot this little video on Instagram - but always forget to do any kind of "treatment" to the videos I take in Instagram.... But with this kind of color, it's not really necessary.  Oh and I just love the view flying over Chicago - it's city planning at it's finest!  Just love!

Holy smokes was it windy by the lake tonight. So windy I couldn't stand still to snap a photo. And the blue hour was beautiful!

Finally had beautiful Spring weather here in Chicago over the weekend.  I took my workout to the path along the lake to soak in a litte of that sun.  To my surprise there was the most beautiful fog rolling in from the lake.  You know I had to stop and take some photos!  Seriously ... what did I do before my iPhone?  These moments just passed me by...

Haen wedding

What a beautiful day!  I shot my first wedding in ages for my dear friend Barbara and her husband Steve.  I have the utmost respect for wedding photographers - this is seriously hard work!  I took over 2400 photos - many burst shots, so lots to cut with eyes closed and folks looking the other way and such - and paired it down to just over 500 I felt best captured the day.  I think there are some keepers for sure.  Hands down my biggest photo challenge to date.  I shot with three lenses - 24-70, 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.4.  I am rather surprised at my gravitation toward primes ... LOVE the 50mm! Here are a few of my favorite photos from a beautiful wedding day in January!  Thanks to Barbara and Steve for including me in such a special day and trusting me to capture some of the most important moments as you begin your journey together.

This is what I do while waiting for my colleagues for meetings in the city. I'm a punctual girl ... can't stand being late. And on the rare occasion that it does happen, I make sure to let those that might be expecting me know... Anyway, to pass the time I wonder the city streets, just looking up. I don't think I will ever tire of Chicago architecture.

happy new year

Happy New Year!  2013 is off to a pretty good start for me!  Let's hope it keeps up that way!

I spotted this grouping of trees a few days ago and had to go back with the camera before the weather changed how they look.  They are kind of tucked back behind a bunch of houses, you'd never know they were there if you didn't get a peek at just the right moment while driving.  Loved how they looked with the snow.

This is the place where I will be shooting a wedding reception.  Cute little spot for a foodie couple don't ya think?  Took a few shots with the SLR to see if I could get anything w/out flash .. I am going to hope they turn off the fluorescents in the coolers!
